Sweet Sloppy Joe served open-faced on Texas toast! Easy to make and hungry tummies will love you for it!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped green pepper
- 1/2 t. garlic powder
- 1/2 t. chili powder
- 1/2 t. black pepper
- 1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 t. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 T. brown sugar
- 1 t. vinegar
- 6-8 slices Texas Toast
- Cheese for topping (I used extra sharp cheddar)
Instructions:
- Brown ground beef until no longer pink.
- Add onion and green pepper and cook until tender.
- Add garlic powder, chili powder, and black pepper and mix well into meat.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar and vinegar.
- Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Serve over Texas Toast and top with cheese!
Oh, and THIS is what it looks like topped off with a slice of bread… you know, like a *real* sandwich.
